I guess she did retain Miss Fancy Attorney-Pants (FAP) because we got an Entry of Appearance finally, although I haven’t seen that it’s been filed with the court yet. We also got some demands from her to produce information that My Hubby had long ago provided The Egg Donor (ED), but which she is telling Miss FAP she didn’t get. Try to contain your shock.
We produced the information, and inundated her with the rest of our 1,050-page exhibit book. Hope she had a fantastic time digging through all of those exhibits, and the additional almost-500-page file of e-mail between the parties. I imagine her next several hours won’t be so fun. I also imagine that whatever ED paid Miss FAP for a retainer will get used up rather quickly.
It seems sort of poetic since ED sat in our attorney’s office back in late 2004 and spent 3 hours of our hard-earned money coming to an agreement she later reneged on in court, stating that she agreed “under duress”. And she spent the remainder of 2005, 2006 and most of 2007 costing us thousands. At least now it’s her money that’s getting flushed down the toilet.
I can’t help but wonder why, if she had the cash to retain an attorney, she wouldn’t just pay what she owed to avoid jail, rather than get someone on board that really can’t help her at this point. It seems pretty strange to me, and is something we’ll definitely point out in court tomorrow.
We haven’t heard back from Miss FAP since we sent her 12 separate e-mails with all of the attachments. I’m waivering between feeling like I want to throw up and feeling excited about getting court over with tomorrow. I hope we’re actually done after tomorrow.
Say a prayer for us if you have a chance. We’ll need all the prayers we can get.

It must feel like you are going around the same mountain again for the “up-teenth” time. Will this wilderness experience ever end? At least, that is the way I felt when my husband had to go to court over “issues”; all the while, the main issue could never be addressed. And that was maliciousness.
I suppose that tomorrow you will see just what fancy footwork Miss FAP has. I hope that Miss FAP doesn’t turn out to be someone of the same mindset as ED…

As I go over all of the past I am reminded of the story of Joshua and the Battle of Jericho. You’ve been marching around the city for a long time…I’m hoping that this is the time that the walls all come tumbling down.

Did you ever get the check? You might want to call the bank the morning of court to see if a stop payment was put on it. Just call to verify that the funds are available (you can do that).
If not, make sure to bring that up in court.

My guess…. she didn’t really pay FAP but that someone else paid the FAP for her because “her ex-husband was being so mean to her”.

So I’m guessing that she’ll be going into court tomorrow without the bill for $711 paid? How on earth is that going to look to THWHN? Not so good, I’m thinking. I never, ever thought through this whole mediation and the retainer of Miss FAP, that she would actually step up and pay anything to support her kids.

Maybe she’ll bring the money to court….and when given the option of being escorted to her jail cell by the bailiff….. she’ll suddenly remember she has some cash on her and count it out. Bill. By. Bill. AND Coin. By. Coin.
Not impossible. It happened in my situation. Made for some incredible courtroom laughter and drama. Not that you need any more drama, unless of course it is all in your favor. Praying for the THWHN to put an end to it all. Miss FAP is probably saying a few prayers of her own right now, after receiving your documentation!

Don’t be shocked when FAP asks for, and gets, a continuance in order to “get up to speed” on the issues.
This is just another (expensive) delay tactic on the part of your PEW.
Mr M, I was just thinking the same thing. Though, there is the argument that she had ample time to retain an attorney and waited to the last minute. Also, THWHN seems to have ED’s number so he may refuse the continuance since she’s been known to pull stupid stunts before. Here’s hoping the continuance doesn’t happen so this can be resolved finally!!! Prayers, Honey, coming your way!!!
