So obviously I’ve been away… Sorry for not letting y’all know in advance. Hubby and I went on a fantastic cruise to Wild, Wonderful Alaska with my folks. It was incredible.

We were completely awed by the majestic, snow-capped mountains, the wildlife, the crisp, cool mornings. We went fishing in Ketchikan and caught two huge King Salmon, along with four Pink Salmon. We got to ship it all back, portioned and frozen, so we’ll be eating salmon for a long time!

We went whale-watching in Juneau and saw several Humpback Whales, plus some Stellar Sea Lions that were playing on a buoy. We saw bald eagles and Mendenhall Glacier, which is magnificent.

In Skagway, we went on a jet-boat tour of the Chilcat River, in the heart of the Alaskan Bald Eagle Preserve, and saw more bald eagles, a moose, and incredible scenery.

We spent our last couple of days at sea checking out Glacier Bay and College Fjord. We watched the Margherite Glacier calve several times, saw lots of birds, and enjoyed the 30-degree sleet, knowing that home was seeing over 100.

We fell in love with the Alaskan wildlife, the scenery, the pace of life. One day we’ll go back, whether it’s for vacation or something more permanent. If you get a chance to get up that way, absolutely do it. It was the experience of a lifetime. God’s mighty hand was awesomely and amazingly evident everywhere we looked.

Here are some of the sights we laid eyes on while we were there…

More tales to come… stay tuned.
